WHO AM I?

Hello. My name is Leah, and I love to write.

I also love talking to strangers, world travel,  word counts, and a perfectly cooked beet. I’ve been told I’m direct, determined, and somewhat humorous. I’d like to agree.

I recently graduated from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT and studied English literature and creative writing, adding  psychology, sociology, and politics to the mix. I just moved to New York City, where I'm excited to start a new job as a management associate for Bridgewater Associates. I'm a writer at heart and run, cook, debate and draw quite a lot.

During summer 2014 I was an editorial intern and for Women’s Health Magazine in New York City, and am now a weekly freelancer for the site’s health, life, and food verticles. I write for both the print and online versions of the magazine, and am professionally trained in fact-checking. I was also a contributing editor at Middlebury Magazine and the editor-in-chief and a co-founder of Middlebury’s most read student blog, middbeat (pseudonym: professla). I’ve written for a host of other publications including Bustle, WellesleyWeston Magazine, and the New England Clean Energy Council. I have a lot to learn, and want to keep moving.

My hard-working mindset, eagerness to observe, commitment to inform, and shameless desire to engage prepare me for  a career in online or print or newspaper journalism in the future. My writing fits under the general umbrella term “lifestyle,” including health, nutrition, science, food, weight,  love and relationships. I also have experience writing about politics, technology, and business, and am always eager to take on new topics. At Middlebury, I specialize in creative non-fiction and personal essays.
